What our Education Offers

Laskar Pelangi (novel by Andrea Hirata and the movie based on the novel) made us aware about how important education is. But, what kind of education, or especially, wha kind of school? If we look at our education development, we get a really big question. What does our education offer? It became a big question lately.  In psychology, there are two part of our brain that processed and developed by education. Left brain, that works the intellegent, sintethic abilities, and linear. The right brain, that works the emotions, and analythical abilities. Nowadays, everyone realize how important to make them balance, so it begins that many voices demand the personality development part in our education or curriculum. With that big number of people that realize that, logically, our educations directed to that purpose. Really? It seems that it still far away from that purpose. We can judge our education by seeing the product of the education, the educated and schooled people, the scholars, or the graduated students. I see, there are three big groups of the 'educated people', that become the biggest part of the product of our educations. The First group contains the people that have strong left brains, but weak right brains. They usually allienated from the community, and spend most of their time with papers and tools. They almost have no sense of humor and art, and usually, in this country, have little money. They almost no contribution in the civilization development, because, although they has the technology, they weak in initiatives about the people development. The Second group contains the people that have strong right brain, but too weak left brains. They good in socializing. I describe them by 'always associating only, but really dumb'. They are always the activists that always involve in many activities in campus or community, talk all night. Almost no one of them become the leader or decision maker, because they cannot think, because of their weak brains. They always busy, but no idea. They almost have no contribution too, in the civilization development, because they just easy going but no direction. The third group contains the people that weak on both parts of their brains, a.k have no brain. This is the worst group. They, since they in the scool or college, usually only care about the fashion, associating in small groups (gank), and very loyal trend follower, trend by artist, celebrities or boys & girls in the other part of the world. They not only have no contribution in the developing people, but the disturb it. They are the scum of society. In school, they have no idea about what they are learning. In the community or society, they have no positif activity that usefull for the society. They just follow, follow, and follow. Sprayed by pesticide is the best for them. Out of that three groups, there is a group that contains small amount off people that have the strong brains, in both parts, or at lease, get the equilibrium. They are the contributor of the social development, civilization development. But, because of the small number, our country has slow development...... So, what does our education offer?
